This will be a two part Workshop - from 9:30am till approx. 4:00pm with a short break for Lunch

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
From Michael - We will cover constructing a hit song. Techniques that have worked for me, techniques that have worked for others and techniques that haven’t worked. We will also cover lyric and melody. And then, we will cover the business of music. Finally we will have an hour or so of just questions and answers. This is your workshop, so I want to give you my best.
Private lessons are available - $100 an hour.

ABOUT JAMEY SHANNON
Jamey began his guitar and music adventure over 40 years ago when his uncle wrote a few chords on a paper sack for him.  Since then he has received music degrees from Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi, and Southwestern.  He resides in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and is currrently a music instructor at Mississippi Delta Community College where he teaches music majors in guitar and bass.  He has played with groups, as a solo artist, and even done a little session work.  His strengths lie in taking all this formal music education and making it applicable to the big stage, the little stage , or the front porch. 

Workshop Overview
This is for the musician looking to expand both there playing and songwriting skills.  We will cover some topics designed to infuse some new and fresh ideas into both, such as chord structure and function within a given key.  There will be opportunities for both group study and private study, including live playing and recorded examples.  

Guitar Chords/Progressions/Theory for the Songwriter
Clinic subject matter will include the following topics: 
Nashville number system
Cycle of fifths
Creating diatonic chord progressions for your songs (in any key) 
Adding color chords to your basic song progressions 
Developing a system of substitution chords to make your songs fresh and original 
Chord forms and inversions to use when playing with others or in the studio 
Chord/melody playing if time permits
